About Gateway Mission Assembly

We are a family of Christ Followers who love Jesus and love people.  We are committed to promoting and sustaining an atmosphere of faith, hope & love in which people can safely seek God, worship Him, experience His presence, receive His healing in every way, grow in His Word, discover His plan for reaching our highest possible destiny, gain biblically sound & practical advice for life and establish supportive friendships with other journeyers.

Our Lead Pastor, Steve McKinney is committed to preaching the processes of the Word of God in a way that cuts away the traditions & additions which have attached through the generations; and to emphasize those parts of the Word that have been ignored or watered down so that the whole councel of God's Word is illuminated.

It is our goal to grow a community which is free from manipulation & control, remembering Galatians 5:1a (NIV) "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free."   We never compromise regarding following God's Word while at the same time lovingly connect with everyone possible.  We are a fellowship of truth and grace.  John 1:17 (NIV) "For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ."

Even though we do not believe in building a man made kingdom, we do believe in joining together in community for the purposes of friendship, support, safety and to share our resources so that we can do more to effectively & efficiently build God's Kingdom.  Also to follow scripture: Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV) "24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Gateway Mission Assembly first gathered in 2007, founded by Pastor Steve McKinney and was originally called the IDEA Church, holding it's services for an initial  period of time at the Gateway Suites which is now the Gloria Maris Restaurant in the Gateway Mall.  It was later called TFI Gateway and the venue was moved to The Gateway Mall, Cinema 2 and was co-led by Pastor Steve and by Bishop Ray Llarena.  For a period of time, Pastora Pie Cabangangan also took the Lead position and continues to be active in Gateway.  In 2014, the core leadership decided to call the Church simply "Gateway" until it was re-named and registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commision as Gateway Mission Assembly, Inc.  The Church currently meets at Cinema 8 and it's Lead Pastor is Steve McKinney, it's Pastoral Staff is Pie Cabangangan, Noemi Narvacan, Ed Barcena.  It's Board of Trustees are Steve McKinney, Danny Aguit, Cholita Perez, Katrina Agno and Onin Pilotin.

Why the Name "Gateway Mission Assembly?"

For the name Gateway, there are two reasons we use this name.  The 1st is simple.  We began meeting at Gateway Mall in Cubao and continue to meet there, currently at Cinema 8 at 10:30am on Sundays.

The 2nd reason is based on scripture.  Jesus is the "Gate" and Jesus is the "Way."  Gate+Way=GATEWAY!  See the scriptures:

John 10:7-10 (NIV)   7 Therefore Jesus said again, “Very truly I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All who have come before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep have not listened to them. 9 I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

John 14:6 (NIV)    "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Mission is very important to us.  We are not only on God's mission to make disciples in our Jerusalem which is Metro Manila, and our Judea, which is the entire Philippines, but to our Samaria, Asia, and the whole earth.  (see Acts 1:8)  We are preparing a mission force that will soon launch into Thailand where we will establish a permanent mission work which will be an outreach community center as well as a funtioning christian fellowship.  We are seeking the Lord as to where exactly this will be.

Assembly is simply a name which means an organized gathering.  We don't like to call ourselves a church because each individual believer is the church wherever they are.  In thier home, socially, at school and at work.  We are the church which assembles together to worship and to accomplish the advancment of God's Kingdom in a unified effort.
